East Meadow, New York (September 25, 2003) - LUKOIL Oil Company today announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and New York Senator Charles Schumer will join LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov in the opening of the company's gasoline station in New York City. The event will take place on Friday, September 26th at 12 noon at LUKOIL's station on the corner of 24th Street and 10th Avenue in Manhattan.
"This is an important occasion, not only for the LUKOIL Oil Company, but also for U.S. - Russian relations as a whole," said Vagit Alekperov, President of LUKOIL. "I am honored that President Putin and Senator Schumer will join me at this event to celebrate the growing energy cooperation between our two countries."
LUKOIL acquired Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. and its 1,300 gasoline stations in November 2000. This acquisition marked the first time that a Russian oil company had purchased a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The changeover to the LUKOIL brand marks the introduction of a world-class international brand providing U.S. consumers with high quality fuels that meet or exceed all U.S. specifications. |
